The official announcement took place during the Tunisia Investment Forum (TIF) on 12th and 13th June, hosted by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) in partnership with the European Union Delegation in Tunisia. Team Europe affirms its dedication to sustainable development in the Mediterranean region by committing a total €472,6 million to the ELMED electricity interconnection project and its ecosystem.

At the Tunisia Investment Forum held in Tunis on 12 and 13 June, Minister of Economy and Planning, Féryel Ouerghi Sebaï, and EIB Vice-President responsible for financing in Tunisia Ioannis Tsakiris signed a financing agreement of €210 million (around TND 707 million) for modernisation of the section of the RN13 between Sfax and Kasserine.

Read more When: 3 September 2024, 14:00-18:00 CESTWhere: Physical Attendance: Eva Eriksson lecture hall, Universitetsgatan 2, 651 88 Karlstad, Sweden (registration required, link available soon) Online Participation: Connection link will be provided before the event Topic: Human oversight of automated decision-making Overview: EU regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) mandate human oversight in automated decision-making processes to ensure fairness and accountability. GDPR Article 22: Grants individuals the right to avoid decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affects them. AIA Article 14(2): Requires human oversight of high-risk AI systems to protect health, safety, and fundamental rights. AIA Recital 73: Stresses the importance of identifying appropriate human oversight measures before AI systems are marketed or put into service. Additionally, the 2019 Ethics guidelines for trustworthy AI advocate for "Human agency and oversight" as one of the seven ethical principles to ensure AI is trustworthy and ethically sound.           1 Read more
