EIB pledges EUR 500m support at Donors’ Conference for the People of Türkiye and Syria

The European Investment Bank today outlined details of a comprehensive earthquake reconstruction and recovery package of up to EUR 500 million new financial support, within the European Union’s overall response, at the Donors’ Conference for the People of Türkiye and Syria convened in Brussels by the European Commission and Swedish Presidency of the European Council.

Moldova: EIB Global invests $30 million to modernise electricity distribution grid

The European Investment Bank, through its dedicated development finance arm EIB Global, backs the four-year programme of investment in the Moldovan electricity distribution sector. The programme will be implemented by ICS Premier Energy Distribution, Moldova’s largest private electricity distribution system operator, which serves about 70% of the country. The EIB finance, in line with the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy, will contribute to the modernisation, digitalisation and expansion of the electricity distribution grid in the central and southern part of Moldova, including the capital Chisinau.

Combatting environmental crime main focus of EuroMed Justice events

Stepping up judicial cooperation to combat environmental crime has been the main focus of two major events organised by the EuroMed Justice (EMJ) programme this week. Experts and officials from Algeria, Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia participated in the Conference on Environmental Justice in the Mediterranean on 14 and 15 March in Algiers to share best practices and expertise. Furthermore, a dedicated joint training session for practitioners took place in Verona in Italy.
