Eurojust supports action against drug trafficking and money laundering: 22 arrests
Judicial and law enforcement authorities in France, the Netherlands, Spain and Romania have carried out a coordinated action against an organised crime group (OCG) suspected of trafficking cocaine and cannabis and laundering the proceeds of this crime. During a joint action, 22 suspects were arrested. Eurojust assisted the authorities in setting up and funding a joint investigation team (JIT) into the case.

Italy: NRRP - Interior Ministry and EIB launch €272 million thematic fund for Integrated Urban Plans
The Fund aims to strengthen the integrated urban plans of the 14 Metropolitan cities of Italy, supporting private projects designed to enhance sustainable urban regeneration and economic revitalisation. This is the main objective of the €272 million thematic fund launched by the Interior Ministry and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Serbia: EIB Vice-President Pavlova signs second EU grant for Belgrade – Niš railway
Only a month after the first grant was signed, EIB Global signed a second EU grant for €174.6 million for the subsection Paraćin – Trupale – Međurovo rail route, part of an EU financial package totalling €2.2 billion for the Belgrade – Niš section of the Railway Corridor X. The first grant under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (€82.8 million) was signed in February 2023. The funds will enable the upgrade and modernisation of 230 km of railway. This will enable travel speeds of up to 200 km/h between Belgrade and Niš, increase trade flows and stimulate economic growth along the route.

Italy: InvestEU - EIB and City of Rome sign technical advisory agreement on energy efficiency in over 200 schools
European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti and Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri signed a technical advisory agreement today at the Campidoglio city council building. It aims to support the resources, planning, implementation and monitoring of funds made available for operations to improve the energy efficiency of over 200 school buildings in Rome between 2023 and 2027.
