European Green Deal: Agreement reached on cleaner maritime fuels for shipping
The European Parliament and the Council reached an agreement on the FuelEU Maritime initiative. This measure will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the shipping sector by promoting the use of cleaner energy, and gradually decreasing fuel use over time, by 2% in 2025 to as much as 80% by 2050
Conclusions from the 23 March 2023 European Council
Following a discussion by EU leaders, the European Council has adopted conclusions on Ukraine after the latest developments in relation to Russia’s war of aggression. Also in discussion, were items including competitiveness, single market and the economy, energy, external relations and migration.
€7 billion raised in support of the people in Türkiye and Syria following the recent devastating earthquakes
A total of €7 billion were pledged by the international community at the International Donors' Conference ‘Together for the people in Türkiye and Syria'. These funds will be used to cover humanitarian needs, help the reconstruction of the affected regions, and support recovery in Türkiye and Syria.
