Joint investigation team into alleged core international crimes in Ukraine: one year of international collaboration
One year ago tomorrow, on 25 March 2022, the national authorities of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine set up of a joint investigation team (JIT) into alleged core international crimes committed in Ukraine. Over the past 12 months, four more countries have joined the JIT, and Eurojust has developed a dedicated support structure that includes the establishment of a centralised database to collect, store and analyse evidence.

Yesterday, the Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA), Ms. Nina GREGORI was at the Court of Justice of the European Union where, together with its President – the Honourable Mr. Koen LENAERTS – she spoke to a High-level Roundtable attended by over 160 representatives of 25 EU+ countries, Third Countries , the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), the UNHCR, the International Association of Refugee and Migration Judges (IARMJ) and the Association of European Administrative Judges (the AEAJ).
Portugal: EIB commits €450 million green loan to support REN plan for the extension and reinforcement of the electricity transmission network
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to lend €450 million to Redes Energéticas Nacionais SGPS, S.A. (REN) to finance renewable energy connections and the reinforcement and upgrading of the Portuguese electricity transmission network. This financing will contribute to REN’s five-year electricity transmission investment programme (2022-2026), benefiting several regions across Portugal.
A new institutional collaboration agreement signed by the CPVO
The Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) signed yesterday a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting activities of mutual interest. Portugal: EIB lends €100 million to EGF for financing urban waste management investment
The EIB loan will support EGF’s plan to invest €202 million in waste management in Portugal over the period 2022-2024.
Italy: Infrastructure - €750 million for modernisation of the Autostrade Alto Adriatico network
Some €750 million will be provided for the upgrading and management of sections of the Autostrade Alto Adriatico motorway, which will have a substantial economic and social impact for the region. The agreement was signed today at the headquarters of Regione Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Trieste by Sole Director of Società Autostrade Alto Adriatico (SAAA) Anna di Pasquale, Deputy Managing Director and Business Director of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) Massimo Di Carlo, and Principal Advisor of the Growth Capital and Project Finance Department of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Simone Dell’Atti, in the presence of the President of Regione Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Commissioner with responsibility for completion of the A4 motorway.

Germany: EIB co-finances large offshore wind farm in the North Sea with EnBW
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting the construction of the large new He Dreiht wind farm with a €600 million loan for the German utility Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW). The wind farm in the German part of the North Sea will consist of 64 wind turbines, each with a 15 MW capacity, providing 1.1 million households with green electricity. The overall cost of the project will be €2.4 billion.
