What it does
ACER works on:
- Integrating national energy markets into a more competitive EU energy market, thereby ensuring reliable energy supply at lower cost for consumers.
- Helping Europe transition to clean energy to decarbonise its wider economy.
- Contributing to efficient trans-European energy infrastructure, enabling energy to move easily across borders and facilitating the roll-out of more renewables.
- Monitoring energy markets to ensure that they are trustworthy, deterring market manipulation & abuse.
- Coordinating energy regulatory action across the EU (where necessary).

ACER fosters a fully integrated and well-functioning European energy market, where electricity and gas are traded and supplied according to the highest integrity and transparency standards, so that EU consumers and businesses can benefit from a wider choice, fair prices and greater protection.
