Mis on Euroopa päev?
9. mail 1950 pidas Prantsusmaa välisminister Robert Schuman ajaloolise kõne ja esitas kava, mis käsitles tihedamat koostööd Euroopas. Schumani deklaratsioon sillutas teed uuele rahu, integratsiooni ja koostöö ajastule kogu Euroopas, pannes aluse tänasele Euroopa Liidule.
Tänapäeva muutuvas ja keerulises maailmas peab liit jääma tugevaks ja sõltumatuks. See tähendab ühist tegutsemist, et tugevdada meie julgeolekut, suurendada jõukust ning kaitsta meie vabadust otsustada, millises ühiskonnas ja demokraatias me soovime elada.
Euroopa päev annab võimaluse seda tunnustada ja tähistada kogukonda, mis esindab meie väärtusi ja teeb koostööd selle nimel, et kaitsta ja areneda. See eriline sündmus annab ka võimaluse suhelda kodanikega ja näidata, mida teeb EL selleks, et kaitsta inimesi ja luua neile võimalusi ning edendada partnerlusi kogu maailmas.
Euroopa päeva tähistamine
Igal aastal võtavad kümned tuhanded külastajad osa Euroopa päeva tähistavatest üritustest ja ettevõtmistest. Võite külastada ELi institutsioone Brüsselis, Strasbourgis, Luxembourgis ja Frankfurdis, et saada rohkem teavet meie elu kujundava töö ja poliitika kohta.
Euroopa päeva tähistavad kõigis 27 ELi riigis asuvad komisjoni esindused ja Euroopa Parlamendi bürood. Samuti toimuvad selle päeva puhul üritused ja ettevõtmised üle kogu maailma – tutvuge ELi delegatsioonide ning käimasolevate missioonide ja operatsioonide asjaomase teabega.
Kuidas me seda 2026. aastal tähistasime?
Brüsselis tantsisid inimesed Euroopa elektroonilise muusika saatel üritusel Iris Tipik Electro Night. Luksemburgis tähistati Euroopa päeva Wiltzis, kus rõhutati ELi rolli piiriülestes piirkondades, kohalike kodanike kaasamist ja kultuurilist mitmekesisust ning Portugali ja Hispaania ELiga ühinemise 40. aastapäeva.
